William Clay Strange, age 87 of Cornelia, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018. 

Born on July 30, 1931 and raised in Habersham County, he was a son of the late Clarence & Naomi Murphy Strange. Mr. Strange served in the United States Army for two years, having served in the Korean War, and nearly getting shot on several occasions. He contributed the Good Lord for bringing him safe and sound through it all. In 1949, he married his late wife Nezzie Free Strange. In 1956, he went into the restaurant business for 30 years. Mr. Strange graduated from Piedmont College in 1961 with a bachelor’s degree. In 1972, he was elected as a Habersham County Commissioner and served in that position for two terms. He served on several boards and committees, North Georgia Trade School Board, Habersham County Medical Center Board, Federal Affairs Committee, and the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Committee. Mr. Strange was an ordained deacon and member of Level Grove Baptist Church. He was licensed in the real estate business for 25 years in which he built over 100 single-family homes. He taught the Adult Sunday School Class for over 25 years and wrote a book on the Bible entitled: The Mysteries of the Revelation of Jesus Christ Simplified. 

In addition to his parents and spouse, he was preceded in death by twin sons, Keith & Kent Strange, son, Michael Strange; brother, Jewell Strange; and sister, Dorothy Strange.

 Survivors include his son, Jerry Strange of Cornelia; brother and sisters-in-law, Gene & Doris Strange and Joyce Strange all of Cornelia; special longtime caregivers, June & John Dyer of Cornelia and their daughters, April Dyer Ferguson and Laura Dyer both of Demorest; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

 Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am, Saturday, November 17, 2018 from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Dr. Brian James and Rev. Terry Rice officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

 The family will receive friends from 4-8 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
