(Sautee)- The overall average temperature for White County in 2019 was 58.8 degrees which is  3.1 degrees above the normal temperature of 55.7 degrees, making it White County’s fifth warmest year since 1957.

-The highest average annual temp was 61.0 degrees in 1997.

-Our warmest month was July with an average temperature of 74.7 degrees.

-Our coldest month was January when the temperature averaged out at 39.8 degrees.

-In 2019, our highest single-day temperature was 97 degrees on September 16th at Helen.

-Our lowest temperature was 16 on January 20th at Cleveland.

-In terms of precipitation, 2019 was the ninth-wettest year on record for White County in 75 years, tallying up a very soggy 79.82 inches of rainfall. It comes on the heels of the wettest year ever…2018…when we recorded an average total of 100.06 inches!

-The wettest month was February when White County had an average of 13.02 inches of rain.

-The driest month was September when we got only 1.08 inches.

-The greatest 24-hour rainfall in 2019 was 4.42 inches on October 31st at Sautee Weather Station.

– It is ironic that we had a three-month-long severe-to-extreme “flash” drought that began in mid-September and ended in mid-December.
