DAHLONEGA – The No. 17 University of North Georgia baseball team scored 10 runs in the first four innings on the way to a 13-1 win over Lander Sunday afternoon on Senior Day.

North Georgia got on the board in the first inning, starting with a Bill LeRoy RBI double and then came home on a Nick Clarno RBI single that put UNG up, 2-0.

The Nighthawks scored five runs in the second inning, aided by three Bearcat errors, before Lander scored their only run of the game in the third on a Vincent Addona solo homer. UNG answered in the bottom of the third on another LeRoy RBI double and a Clarno RBI double to bring the score to 9-1.

Crews Taylor had a RBI single in the fourth before Chase Sudduth had a RBI double in the sixth. UNG scored the final two runs of the game in the seventh on two wild pitches.

NOTES
– Brady Eeles and Sudduth each had three hits on the day, while LeRoy and Clarno each had two hits.

– Cade Heil (3-2) earned the win, going seven innings and striking out five while scattering five hits along the way.

– The UNG baseball program honored its five seniors prior to first pitch: Sudduth, Conner Corbitt, Josh Profit, Derrick Pickvet and Daniel McCrary.

North Georgia will travel to Columbus State next weekend to battle the Cougars, starting Friday night at 7 p.m.
