CLEVELAND, Ga. (May 8, 2019) – The No. 12 Truett McConnell University softball team (42-9, 24-2 AAC) is set to compete in the Lawrenceville Bracket at the site of Georgia Gwinnett College in the NAIA national championship opening round. The Lady Bears earned a No. 2 seed and will face No. 3-seeded LSU Alexandria, who they previously split within the regular season.
The tournament is a double-elimination tournament and the winner of the tournament will advance to the World Series in Springfield, Mo., May 23-30. The Lawrenceville Bracket also features No. 1- seeded Georgia Gwinnett College and No. 4- seeded University of Rio Grande (Ohio). The Lady Bears went 3-1 against the Grizzlies this regular season.
“We are excited to be representing TMU on the national stage and can’t wait for the tournament to begin on Monday,” Head Coach Jenni Shepard said. “Playing at GGC will have a home feel to it and many of our fans will be there to cheer us on. We have faced both LSU Alexandria and GGC this year, and Rio Grande last year and are confident in our abilities to compete at a high level for this tournament.

Game one against LSU Alexandria is set for 12:00 p.m., on Monday, May 13, at the Grizzly Softball Complex in Lawrenceville, Ga.
