Fire damage to Cleveland home Wednesday
(Cleveland)- A candle is blamed for starting a fire that damaged a Cleveland home Wednesday afternoon. White County Fire Department spokeswoman Ana Newberry said in an email, on Wednesday at approximately 4 PM, White County Fire with Automatic Aid from the City of Cleveland was dispatched To 452 River Forest Run to the report of a structure fire.
Newberry stated, upon arrival of the first fire unit, they advised there was smoke coming from the front door of a two story wood frame structure with a full basement.
According to Newberry firefighters shut off the propane to the structure while conducting a walk around. Upon entry to the home, they found there was a small fire in the kitchen.
The fire was contained to the kitchen cabinets with little fire damage to the main floor. The structure was checked with a Thermal Image Camera and all was clear.
Newberry said, it was determined that the fire started with a candle that had been left unattended and ignited the kitchen cabinets.
There was no one home at the time of the fire and no injuries reported. The homeowner declined American Red Cross assistance.
