(CLEVELAND) – On Wednesday, the Truett McConnell University’s women’s lacrosse team hosted Lourdes University for a non-conference match-up inside the TMU Soccer/Lacrosse complex. The Lady Bears played with heart, but it ultimately wasn’t enough falling to a final score of 23-3. 

PLAY-BY-PLAY 

Lourdes was first on the board, holding the Lady Bears scoreless in the first quarter (10-0). In the second quarter, Lourdes put up six more goals forcing the Lady Bears to work hard from behind as they headed into the half 16-0.  In the third quarter, the Lady Bears continued to fight to find the back of the net as they scored two goals by Katie Smith and Shelby Nail (20-2). In the fourth quarter, the Lady Bears were first to score with a goal by Marlo McBrayer (20-3), though it wasn’t enough to secure the win, resulting in a final score of 23-3. 

LEADERS  

Smith led the way with one goal, taking seven shots with three on goal and one ground ball. McBrayer followed with one goal, taking three shots with one on goal and one ground ball. Nail had one goal, taking two shots with one on goal and three ground balls. 

UP NEXT 

The Lady Bears will travel to Laurinburg, N.C. on Saturday, March 11 to compete against St. Andrews University for an AAC match-up. Game time set for 12:00 p.m.
