(Cleveland)- New unemployment figures have been released by the Georgia Department of Labor and it shows the preliminary unemployment rate for June in White County was 2.9 percent. That’s up three tenths of a percentage point from the 2.6 percent revised May rate. 

According to the labor department the White County Labor force in June was 16,614 of those 16,138 were employed while 476 were unemployed.

Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said the Georgia Mountains region added to its labor force in June.   

In the region, the June unemployment rate increased by 0.4 percentage points, coming in at 3.3 percent.  It was 3.8 percent one year ago.
