(Cleveland)- The White County Board of Commissioners have followed through on their plans to set up an Historic Preservation Committee,  during a regular commission meeting  Monday  the board approved a resolution establishing the committee that will designate historic sites in the county to be included in the county’s land use plan.

Commission Chairman Travis Turner  reiterated the county’s desire to protect these locations, “ we have a lot of historic cemeteries as well as the Sautee-Nachoochee Valley, which all items are very important and very dear to our heart.  The board recognizes we need to  come up with a plan to preserve, to preserve the nature of these locations because we are growing.” said Turner.

The commissioners are expected to appoint 8-10 members of the community to serve on  this committee.
