CLEVELAND — The driver charged in the death of a 3-year-old Cleveland boy in the parking lot of a Cleveland grocery store Tuesday afternoon has been denied bond.

James Lyn Holcomb, 36, of Cleveland was denied bond during a first appearance hearing with a White County magistrate judge Thursday, that office confirmed.

Holcomb has been charged by the Georgia State Patrol with driving under the influence, reckless driving, no insurance, and first-degree vehicular homicide in connection with the death of Easton Cain, 3, of Cleveland.

Holcomb’s Chevrolet Avalanche pickup crossed over the travel lane from an adjacent parking row and struck the back of a parked 2012 Ford Explorer, pinning the child between the vehicles at 12:49 p.m. Tuesday, according to GSP.

That impact pushed the Explorer into the front of a parked Ford F-250 pickup truck.
