Wilma Jean Harris Irvin, age 77 of Cornelia, Georgia passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 04, 2024.
Born at the “Charm House” in Clarkesville, Georgia on February 16, 1947, Jean was a daughter of the late Henry Odell & Willene Landers Harris. She was a beloved teacher who retired from Cornelia Elementary after 38 years of teaching.
Jean attended South Habersham High School before graduating with a degree in Music and earning her Master’s of Education from Piedmont College. She then obtained an Education Specialist degree from Brenau University.
Jean was a member of honorary teaching sorority Alpha Delta Kappa, Three Arts Club, and Level Grove Baptist Church, where she loved singing in the choir. Jean was well known for her musical talents, even singing the National Anthem at an Atlanta Braves game. Jean taught piano and voice to many local children.
Although Jean loved teaching and music, her first love was bragging about her children and grandchildren. She dedicated much of her time to making their days special through birthday parties, pool days, piano lessons, and using any holiday as an excuse to spend time with her family.
Her life was marked by a strong and enduring faith in her lord and savior Jesus Christ. Jean had a rich prayer life and was known among her community for her willingness to pray with anyone, for any reason, at any time.
