(Cleveland)- The Georgia Department of Labor reported Thursday that the preliminary unemployment rate in White County increased four-tenths of a percentage point in October to 2.4 percent, up from the revised rate of 2 percent in September.
The labor department said in October the county’s labor force was 16,910, with 16,502 employed and 408 unemployed.
Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said all Regional Commissions recorded a rise in unemployment rates in October. “Job seekers have continued to experience a favorable hiring environment across multiple job sectors, despite a slight uptick in unemployment rates,” said Commissioner Butler.
Employment rose in the Georgia Mountains Regional Commission, Northeast Georgia Regional Commission, and Southwest Georgia Regional Commission.
