(Atlanta)- White County’s preliminary unemployment rate for March declined four tenths of a percentage point from the February rate. The Georgia Department of Labor released the latest unemployment figures Thursday and White County’s preliminary unemployment rate in March was 5.5 percent, that’s down from the 5.9 percent revised rate for February.
The labor department said the labor force in the county was 13,633 in March, with 12,877 of those employed white 756 were unemployed. The rate one year ago was 6.6 percent.
The unemployment rate in the Georgia Mountains region for March was 5.2 percent, down two tenths of a percentage point from the February rate. The labor department said, most of the decrease in claims came in construction and manufacturing.
