(Cleveland)-  The Georgia Department of Labor said Thursday that the preliminary unemployment rate for August in White County was 2.5 percent, that’s a three-tenths of a percentage point increase from the revised July rate of 2.2 percent.

The labor department said in August the labor force in White County was 16,692, of those 16,278 were employed and 414 were unemployed.

Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said that all Regional Commissions recorded a rise in unemployment rates in August.

“As we look toward the fall, we are committed to supporting the workforce as employers search for seasonal, full-time, and part-time employees to fill vacancies in preparation for the holiday employment season,” said Commissioner Mark Butler.
