(Cleveland)- Following the arrest of an 8th-grade student Monday for making a threat against White County Middle School the school system released a public statement.

Jonathan Stribling, Assistant Superintendent of Schools shared the statement with the medias which said, “On September 9th about 3:45 pm White County Middle School was made aware of a post on social media that was of a threatening nature. The post appeared to have been made by an 8th-grade student at WCMS (White County Middle School). School administration immediately contacted law enforcement and officers were dispatched to the home of the student to conduct an investigation. The investigation resulted in the 8th-grade student being charged with 2 counts of Disrupting Operation of a Public School. The student was turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice and the investigation is ongoing.”

The statement also said, “Following the completion of the law enforcement investigation, White County Middle School will invoke appropriate school consequences for violating the WCMS code of conduct. The consequences for any threatening post will be dealt with immediately and seriously, and involve law enforcement. It is imperative that parents communicate with their students the serious consequences of making threatening posts on social media. It is the goal of White County Schools to keep our students safe and our families well informed.”
