(Cleveland)- The  Georgia High School Football Daily newsletter has selected White County Warriors as their team of the week for the impressive win last Friday over number 8 Hart County 50-47 in a Class 3A game. It was White County’s first victory over a top-10 team on the road since 1983 when they beat Oconee County.

The team was presented with the award Wednesday at White County High School.  White County coach Tim Cokely talked with WRWH’s Drew Harris about the honor of being selected out of 400 teams around the state, ” the fact that our county gets recognized and our team has a bunch of guys who are humble and do what it takes to win, that’s the honor to me.   It’s a plaque, it’s a trophy but I think it’s more than that it’s representative of a great community that’s behind its team and a team that plays for its community, ” commented Cokely.

White County, ranked in an AJC poll for the first time since 1972.
