(Cleveland)-   White County government employees can look forward to a 2 ½ percent cost of living pay increase beginning this Thursday.

During Monday’s commission work session and called meeting  Commission Chairman Travis Turner said back in May and June when they were discussing the current budget they committed to the employees they would look at possible giving employees a cost of living raise after they found out what impact the Coronavirus would have on the budget.  “

This is a follow up on that promise,” he said.

After hearing a financial update from County Finance Director Jodi Ligon,  she told the commissioners she feels the funds are there to cover the $255,000 needed to cover the increases.
