(Cleveland)- The White County Board of Commissioners approved two special proclamations Monday during their regular meeting. First, the board approved a proclamation recognizing those who are in recovery from substance abuse by proclaiming September as National Recovery Month in White County.

Shelley Sidders, Executive Director of Bridge Recovery Resource Center in Cleveland was on hand for the procuration. Sidders announced a special recovery celebration with the Georgia Recovers Bus Tour event at Freedom Park in Cleveland on September 11, from 6-8 PM. The event will celebrate recovery, share stories of hope, and connect with the community.

The commissioners also took time to recognize Ms. Holly Witcher for being named as 2025 Georgia Teacher of the Year. The board approved a proclamation that designates Sunday, September 1, as Holly Witcher Georgia State Teacher of the Year Day in White County.

Witcher was selected for the state award earlier this year by the Georgia Department of Education.
