Sports – The Warriors’ took the win last night in the bout against the East Jackson Eagles in their final non-region game 55 to 27.
The Eagles put the first points on the board just 37 seconds into the game, immediately answered by the Warriors with a 24-yard pitch-and-catch from Tripp Nix to Zach Godfrey with 10:30 left in the first quarter. Then Nix would add two touchdown runs to the score before the end of quarter one.
The second quarter started off with a 75-yard punt return touchdown by White County’s Gaines Clark to take the lead to 28 to 7. The Eagles then scored from 38 yards out but were tripped up on their next attempt against the Warriors with an interception by Gaines Clarke that would yield another touchdown run by Sawyer Gailey. Nix would close out the half with a 2-yard touchdown run with just under two minutes left, ending the half with the Warriors up 42 to 14.
A 39-yard field goal By Hayden Vandergriff gave the Warriors a three-point start to the second half, and the Eagles responded, with six points by BT Callahan, only to be countered by a touchdown run from Clarke and another field goal by Vandergriff. The fourth quarter saw one more score from the Eagles and the game would end with a victory by the Warriors 55 to 27.
