(Cleveland) – It was an evening of back-and-forth scoring Monday as the White County Warriors were at home hosting the Lumpkin County Indians in a crucial regional contest.
Scoring activity began slow however the Indians were able to put up the touchdown during the first quarter with an 89-yard run. But the Warriors responded quickly as within 7 seconds into the second quarter Tripp Nix would run it in for a touchdown and tie the game. Within five minutes the Indians pulled ahead again.
Another touchdown for each team would bring the end to the first half score at 21 to 14 Indians.
The second half was highlighted by a touchdown by Noel Lammers for the Warriors, but a missed point after would leave the Warriors short, 20 to 21 to end the third quarter.
The Warriors recovered that lost point with a field goal by Hayden Vandegriff which would allow the Warriors to take the lead for the first time in the contest at 23 to 21. The lead was short-lived as Lumpkin scored again in the fourth.
The Warriors would push the Indians back downfield and come within twenty yards of victory but were not able to cross the line and the game would end with Lumpkin County taking the win 29 to 23.
The Captain D’s players of the game were Noel Lammers and Cade Dockery. The Warriors are off this Friday but and will return on October 13th on the road as they take on Greater Atlanta Christian.
