Sports – The Warriors missed a chance to claim the victory Thursday night in Varsity Baseball, falling to the Gilmer Bobcats, 3-2.

The Bobcats took the early lead last night, outscoring White County 2 to 1 in the first inning. And while the next two innings were scoreless, the Warriors were able to tie up the game in the bottom of the fourth, this would signal a pitching change for the Bobcats, who were able to pull ahead again in the top of the fifth.

The bottom of the 7th was where the excitement was. The Bobcats were ahead by one, and only one out, White County was given two free bases on walks. An error by the outfielder on a full-count fly ball by J Ben Haynes forced an out at second. A stolen base by J Ben and another walk would load the bases on the next at bat, however, a pop-fly out to center left all three stranded on base and gave Gilmer the victory after 7 innings, 3 to 2.

This loss ties up the three-game set with White County taking the first game. Game three will be held tonight (Friday) at Gilmer.
