Sports – It was an exciting Wednesday night on the hardwood at White County High School as the Warriors hosted the first round of the Georgia High School Association State Playoffs against Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe.

The attendance at the gym started slim but as the players took the floor for gameplay the Warrior fans filled the seats to show their support and it showed on the faces of the White County Boys.

It may have been LFO first on the board, but Cooper Turner would answer back quickly putting up the first points for White County, and by the end of the quarter it would be White County on top by four, 15 to 11. By the end of two, the Warriors had doubled their score and their lead, going into halftime 31 to 23, White County.

Back into the game for the second half, the Warrior boys stayed on their game and kept LFO at bay maintaining their eight-point lead by the start of the fourth. But the ice would become thin in the last 90 seconds as LFO pushed back and tied up the score at 52 with 1 minute left to play. Drew Harris called the final plays of the game:

 

Warrior proud, White County takes the win and joins the sweet-16 for the next round of state playoffs, and after Sandy Creek’s victory over Franklin last night, the Warriors will be on the road Friday to take on the Patriots in Tyrone, Ga.
