Wanda “Sue” Philyaw, 83, of Cleveland, Georgia, passed away on December 25, 2021.  She was born to the late Ruby Mae Shuler and Garnett W. Blackburn on August 11, 1938 in Habersham County. 

Sue graduated from South Habersham High School.  She was a Director of Kindercare for several years before settling in as a housewife.  She married the late Joseph Philyaw and they lived in Gwinnett County for almost forty years before she joined her children in North Georgia area a little over four years ago.  

Sue is survived by her children: Jerry (Becky) Pulliam, Pennie (David) Richwine, Steve (Linda) Pulliam, and Kerri (Allyn) Johnson.  She is also survived by a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and siblings: Harold (Ann) Blackburn, Dianne Emrey, Elaine (Lewis) Wilbanks, Shuler Lynn (Melvin) Fuller, and Pam (Carl) Kirkpatrick.  

Sue was a bright minded, feisty introvert with sharp wit and a love for the outdoors and puppies.  She loved fashion and football and was always quick to comment on your outfit and your hairstyle.  Sue never met a stranger and made many friends in her caregivers over the past few years. She was known by all for her strength of heart and tenacity of spirit.  She will be missed by those who knew her.  

As per her wishes, there will be no public services.  Services were provided by Dahlonega Funeral Home.
