FLORENCE, S.C. – Eren Ozer scored two goals and assisted on another as the University of North Georgia men’s soccer team pushed past Francis Marion, 5-2, Saturday night at FMU’s Hartzler Field. The Nighthawks improve to 2-1 in PBC play and 5-3-1 overall.

The scoring for North Georgia started in the 22nd minute when Adam Farrell fired from outside the box into the lower left corner of the frame to take a 1-0 lead. Minutes later, Ozer took a pass from Matheus Abreu near the penalty spot and scored to double the Nighthawk lead.

After halftime, in the 65th minute, Ozer put another goal in the net off a cross from Alex Grant just seconds before FMU answered with a goal from Martin Coughlan in the 67th minute. Abreu got the goal back off an Ozer pass just inside the box to extend UNG’s lead to 4-1.

One minute later, Francisco Alisiardi found space just outside the box and fired the fifth goal of the night home. The Patriots scored again with just under three minutes to play as Rory Monks scored from 11 yards out to bring the match to its final.

NOTES
– North Georgia was outshot, 13-9, in each half. Ozer led UNG in the shots category with five.

– Matt Sharman made 11 saves in 62 minutes between the posts for North Georgia.

– Since 2001, North Georgia is 21-0 when scoring five or more goals in a single game.
