(MILLEDGEVILLE). – After a scoreless 90 minutes, Georgia College broke through to score the golden goal as they beat the University of North Georgia women’s soccer team, 1-0, Sunday afternoon.

North Georgia controlled the first 20 minutes of the contest, firing two shots on the Bobcats. Georgia College answered though, shooting four times in the final 25 minutes of the half while holding UNG without an attempt.

The tide changed again in the second half when the Nighthawks sent nine shots toward goal to GC’s one, but neither team could figure out the opposing keeper. In the 96th minute, Alexis Bergamini found the net after a cross from Ryann Smith to win the game.

– The win for Georgia College snaps a eight-match winning streak in the series for the Nighthawks.

– Morgan Ramby made four saves on the day.

– Alexis Sherman took four shots for UNG to lead the way, three of which were on target.
