DAHLONEGA – Zez Steeple hit a three-pointer midway through the second half to cut a Flames lead down to six, but Lee would go on a big run late to defeat the University of North Georgia men’s basketball team, 77-64, Wednesday afternoon on Fifth Grader’s Day Out.

The Nighthawks jumped out to an early lead by hitting their first three shots from behind the arc, but the Flames hung tight and went on a 13-4 run to take the lead before stretching the lead out to double figures before the halftime break.

After the intermission, North Georgia clawed back to cut the lead to as few as six with just over eight minutes to play, but the Flames finished the game by extending the lead out to as many as 15 on their way to the win.

NOTES
– Zach Brown led UNG with 11 points off the bench, while Carrod Watson also finished in double figures with 10.

– The Flames had 21 points off of 20 Nighthawk turnovers, while UNG was only able to get 11 points off 14 Lee turnovers.

– Lee shot over 50 percent from the floor and were 7-of-15 from beyond the arc.
