(DAHLONEGA )- The University of North Georgia baseball team has earned the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2019-20 academic year, the association announced late last week.

The Nighthawks put up a cumulative team GPA of 3.05 in the 2019-20 school year. This year marks the first time since the 2016-17 academic year that UNG was honored on the list by the association.

In total, 434 schools across high school, junior college, NAIA and all three divisions of the NCAA were honored with the award. Out of that number, 54 were from Division II, including PBC foe Georgia Southwestern.

To be eligible for the Team Academic Excellence Award, teams had to meet the following criteria: must be a high school or collegiate team, the head coach must be a current ABCA member and the team must have had a team cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4.0 scale.
