(BARBOURVILLE, Ky.)- The Truett McConnell University women’s volleyball battled the Union College Bulldogs in a tightly contested first set (24-26) but ultimately dropped all three Appalachian Athletic Conference sets on the road Tuesday night (26-24, 25-11, 25-9).

Both teams entered into the match with a 7-9, 2-3 AAC record. TMU dropped to 7-10, 2-4 AAC and Union improved to 8-9, 3-3 AAC.

TIGHT FIRST SET

After winning the first three points of the game, the Lady Bears went on to lead by as much as five points after a 4-0 run. Nonetheless, the Bulldogs responded with a 4-0 run themselves to come in from behind. Despite a tied game at 14 apiece, TMU got out front and pushed to maintain the lead all the way to 22-17.

With a five-point cushion, Union rallied using a 4-0 run to come within a point of the Lady Bears (23-22). Still neck and neck the Bulldogs manage to tie up the game again at 24-24 and ultimately take the first set on a 4-0 run (24-26).

LEADERS

Jordan Henshaw led the way with six kills while Shayla Smith and Bethany Ross added four apiece. Hannah Leecompiled a total of 11 kills and Abby Maxwell was credited 13 assists.

UP NEXT

The Lady Bears have two more road games on the schedule this week. First TMU will face North Greenville University on Thursday, Sept. 27, at 7:00 p.m., and then Bryan College on Saturday, Sept. 29, at 1:00 p.m.
