(Cleveland)- White County officials have been busy with several mountain-trail assist calls over the last couple of weeks.  The latest incident occurred Sunday afternoon.

White County Public Safety Director David Murphy released information Thursday about that incident.  Murphy said a female hiker that was on  Yonah Mountain experienced a medical episode that required rescue services.  He said, White County Fire and EMS crews arrived on the scene at approximately 6 PM and used an all-terrain unit to transport personnel and equipment to the trail, where crews walked in and made patient contact.

A second ATV unit responded with additional personnel to assist in moving the patient on a stretcher from the rock face to the waiting ATV for transport to the ambulance.  White County EMS  personnel evaluated the patient who then refused transport to the hospital.  According to Murphy White County Fire and EMS along with mutual aid from the Lee Arrendale Fire Brigade cleared the scene at 8:15 PM.

“White County has beautiful terrain and exciting places to experience the outdoors,” Murphy.  “Those areas do come with some risk, so be prepared with proper clothing, shoes, water and a well-charged cell phone.”   He also stressed follow safety guidelines that are posted, and STAY on the marked trails.
