(Cleveland)- A Gainesville man was arrested on Sunday after a traffic stop revealed narcotics ready for distribution, according to information from Cleveland Police Chief Jeff Shoemaker.
Shoemaker in an email stated that on Sunday, Cleveland Police conducted a traffic stop on a 2011 Nissan Titan for speeding, 61 in a 45 zone, on Ga Hwy 11 @ Quillian Street in the city. While speaking with the driver, identified as 19-year-old Gainesville resident, Nicholas Castillo, the officer smelled an odor of Marijuana and requested that Castillo step out of the car.
Once out of the vehicle, officers conducted a pat-down frisk for officer safety and located a firearm in Castillo’s front waistband. A subsequent search of the vehicle located money, THC vapes, a schedule 1 drug, in the original boxes, and marijuana wrapped up in separate packages for sale, along with multiple containers of alcohol.
Information from Shoemaker said Castillo was charged on warrants for speeding, open container, Possession of alcohol under 21, Possession of Marijuana Less than 1 ounce, Possession of Marijuana with intent to distribute, Possession of Schedule 1 drug, Possession of schedule 1 drug with intent to distribute and Possession on a firearm during the commission of a crime.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Castillo remained in the White County Detention Center without bond.
