(CLEVELAND) – The Truett McConnell University women’s basketball team hosted Appalachian Athletic Conference competitor, Bryan College, where the Lady Bears fell to a tough Lions team (31-77). TMU falls to a record of 2-7, 2-6 AAC, while the Lions rise to 7-2, 6-1 AAC.

PLAY BY PLAY
The Lady Bears were first on the board with a layup from Alysee Dobbs, followed by a free throw from Quan Holton. The Lions were quick on their feet and captured the lead. TMU saw a fast break layup from Sydnie Smith to send the Bears into the second quarter trailing, 5-20. In the second quarter, two free throws from Camilla Callihan cut the deficit, where a jump shot from Chloe Williams and a free throw from Gwyn Andrews sparked the Bear’s momentum. The Lions were aggressive on defense and continued to add to their lead. Free throws and a layup from Dobbs sent TMU into the half with a score of 16-33.

In the third quarter, the Lady Bears were quick to score with a layup and jump shot from Williams. A 12-point rally from the Lions created a large deficit, but free throws from Andrews and Holton, followed by a fastbreak layup from Re’Tavia Floyd cut the Lion’s lead with a score of 26-62 going into the fourth quarter. In the final quarter, TMU saw a layup from Holton and free throws from Destinee LovejoyLila Luettich, and Andrews but were unable to respond to the Lions offense (31-77).

LEADERS
Dobbs led the way with seven points, going 3-3 at the free-throw line with four rebounds. Williams followed with six points, going 3-6 in the paint with five rebounds. Holton tallied five points, going 3-4 at the free throw line, while Andrews recorded four points, going 4-8 at the free-throw line with four rebounds.

The Lady Bears hit the road to Montreat, North Carolina on Wednesday, December 7, to face AAC rival Montreat College. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
