(KINGSPORT, Tenn.) – On Thursday, the Truett McConnell Softball team traveled to compete in the third game of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament, where the No. 4 Lady Bears fell to the No. 2 Johnson University in a heartbreaking loss, 1-0. The Lady Bears finish the 2024 season with an overall record of 26-18, 19-9 AAC.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
The Royals were first to make a move with two hits in the first two innings, both unable to score. The Lady Bears responded in the bottom of the second with a lead-off single by Cassie Boatright, ultimately unable to score as good defense by the opposing team kept the game scoreless. Both teams continued to battle hard, eager to make their mark on the board first, when a run by JU pushed the Royals ahead in the top of the seventh. The Lady Bears attempted to tie up the score in the bottom of the seventh, but ultimately fell short, falling in a heartbreaking loss, 1-0.

LEADERS
Boatright, Rebecca Graham, and Hailey Cronic led the way with one hit a piece. Jenna O’Brien was featured drawing two walks, while Kyndall Gipson had one walk. Pitcher Kyleigh Sanders recorded four strikeouts on the evening.
