(MONTREAT, N.C. ) – The Truett McConnell University men’s track & field team finished seventh of 32 teams at the Montreat College Invitational, which took place Friday-Saturday. The Bears best Appalachian Athletic Conference foes Milligan College, Union College, Columbia International University, Bryan College and Bluefield College.
 
Most notable, Simeon Lipsey set the new men’s javelin program record. The senior had the second-best throw, of 10 participants, of 46.02m under the men’s decathlon javelin throw.
 
Junior Sharod Cobb individually won the men’s 400m hurdles, of 11 runners, with a time of 55.98.
 
Joe Parilla, Kyshone DavenportHoy Thurman IV and Keontrae Clayton, of the men’s 4x100m relay, finished third of 12 teams with a time of 41.46. In case you missed it, this particular relay team already punched their ticket to the NAIA National Championships.
 
Also recording a top five finish was Davenport in the men’s 200m. Davenport placed fourth 72 with a time of 21.88. Clayton followed by .01 seconds in fifth (21.89). Davenport and Clayton also finished back-to-back in the men’s 100m. Davenport took sixth with a time of 10.88 and Clayton took seventh with a time of 10.90, respectively.
 
Sophomore Seth Fowler and junior Jake Hall also highlighted the men’s field events. Fowler placed sixth of 42 in the men’s shot put with a mark of 14.22m. Hall placed seventh of 26 in the men’s javelin with a mark of 44.70m. Fowler also followed Hall finishing in eighth in the men’s javelin with a mark of 43.67m.
