(LAURINBURG, N.C.) – The Truett McConnell University men’s soccer team competed in their eighth Appalachian Athletic Conference game of the season Saturday against St. Andrews University. The Bears battled to keep the game scoreless for the first half and into the second, but ultimately fell to SAU, who found the back of the net in the 66th minute, resulting in a final score of 1-0.

TMU made their way to the home team’s side of the field in the first half taking a shot on goal and earning an even amount of corner kicks as the Knights (2-2), leaving the half scoreless. SAU came out strong in the beginning of the second half, taking nine shots, five on goal, while the Bears managed to take a shot of their own and earned a corner kick, but it was TMU’s stellar defense that continued to keep the game neck-and-neck. It wasn’t until the 66th minute that the Knights scored the first and final goal of the game, which clinched the win (1-0).

Freshman Aydan Tyree individually lead with one shot on goal, along with senior Dean Khan, junior Trevor Fick, and sophomore Justin Hicks who all tallied a shot a piece. Junior goalie David Windmiller had seven saves on the day, totaling 47 on the season.
