(CLEVELAND, Ga.) – On Tuesday, the Truett McConnell University baseball team competed in a non-conference match-up against Toccoa Falls College, where the Bears were featured recording a win over the Screaming Eagles, 9-8. TMU rises to an overall record of 4-1.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
The Bears started the evening off hot with a homerun by Caleb Ramsey followed by a two RBI double to right field by Jordan Kenty, to put the Bears up by three 3-0). Two consecutive errors by the visiting team followed by a single to left field by Tanner Griffith, set the Bears up in the second inning for Kenty to push TMU across (4-0). TMU continued to increase their lead as Mikal Mascarello reached home by a passed ball, followed by an RBI single to center field by Caleb Adair, sending Griffith over the plate, 6-0. In the third, the Bears continued to prove to be a tough competitor as another home run by Ramsey over right field brought two more runs to the plate (8-0). TFC found their first run of the game in the fourth, as they looked to decrease the large deficit created by the Bears (8-1). The home team continued to show their grit, putting their final run of the evening on the board in the fifth inning as a sacrifice fly by Tanner Griffith gave Jacob Karvelos room to score (9-0). The remainder of the game saw a shift in momentum for the Screaming Eagles, as the visiting team found three runs in the eighth inning, threatening to come back from the wide gap created by the Bears. Four more runs scored by the visiting team in the top of the ninth, attempted to overwhelm the Bears defense but was ultimately unsuccessful as a fly out to center field, sealed the deal on the win for TMU, with a final score of 9-8.

LEADERS
Ramsey led the way offensively, going 3-4 at the plate, recording three RBIs and two home runs, while Kenty went 1-2 with three RBIs. Griffith was featured going 1-1, with two runs, one RBI and two walks, while Adair went 1-2 with one RBI.

Pitcher Marshall Hongkham recorded two strikeouts over two innings, while Reece Blackiston and Ben Glines recorded one strikeout apiece.
