(GREENVILLE, S.C. ) – The Truett McConnell University baseball team traveled for a non-conference match-up against Bob Jones University, where the Bears hot bats secured an 11-4 victory over the Bruins. TMU rises to a record of 12-5, while the Bruins fall to 2-7.

PLAY-BY-PLAY

TMU sparked their momentum in the first inning with a Tanner Griffith walk and an Andrew Johnston double to give the Bears their first run (1-0). Both teams were evenly matched until the top of the third, starting with a walk from Ethan Roberts and stealthy base running. A hit by pitch from Griffith moved runners into scoring position, followed by a Johnston double to push two runs across the plate (3-0). Johnston capitalized on defensive errors, combined with smart base-running to increase the Bears lead (4-0). The top of the fifth was a pivotal inning for the Bears, scoring four runs on three hits. The game-securing inning was in the top of the seventh, where TMU added three more runs on two hits to defeat the Bruins with a final score of 11-4.

LEADERS

Matthew Redmond led the way offensively, going 3-4 at the plate with one RBI. Johnston followed going 2-6 at the plate with four RBIs, while Russell Kiser was seen going 2-2 at the plate.
