(CLEVELAND) – The Truett McConnell University men’s basketball suffered their fourth Appalachian Athletic Conference loss of the season on Saturday evening inside the Benjamin F. Brady Arena. The Bears (5-4, 2-4 AAC) fell to Tennessee Wesleyan University (5-5, 3-5 AAC) 81-68.
A 3-pointer by the visiting Bulldogs put TWU ahead five minutes into the game (9-12), and the Bulldogs never looked back. In fact, the score was never tied the rest of the way. TWU led by as much as 15 throughout the first half but the Bears managed to get within eight points before the half (33-41).
The second half saw TMU get within three points with 14:28 to go and then within six points with 3:19 remaining in regulation (61-67), but TWU got back out front by double-digits to put the game out of reach.
Antonio Bonilla led the Bears, and all scorers, with a career high of 26 points. Bonilla added eight rebounds, two assists and two steals. Enocka Franky followed with a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds. Xavier Latore also scored 13, and Marlon Allen was credited four assists. Cristian Colon and Brent Kelly added three assists apiece.
The Bears will hit the road for No. 21 Union College on Wednesday, Dec. 11. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
