(Cleveland)- Officials plan to initiate a ground search Wednesday morning for a missing man near Mountain Lakes Resort in White County. The man, identified by the White County Sheriff’s Office as Heath Williams, has been missing for several days.

A social media post by the sheriff’s office dated August 4 says Williams was last seen in the area of Rose Road and 75 Alternate.

Georgia Emergency Management Agency/ Homeland Security Area 1 Field Coordinator Don Strength was in White County Tuesday setting up the ground search. Strength said they had personnel deployed to the area but a severe thunderstorm with lightning prevented them from entering the woods. The search operation was discontinued after GEMA was dispatched to assist with a rescue on Yonah Mountain. Five Fort Benning Army soldiers were injured during a training exercise when part of a tree fell on top of them as the storm swept through. Two of the soldiers died from their injuries.

The White County Sheriff’s Office asks anyone with information that might help them find Williams to contact the Criminal Investigations Division at 706-865-5177.
