State officials say the renovations of two state lodges in the Northeast Georgia mountains – Unicoi and Amicalola – are expected to be completed by Fall. Unicoi Lodge, which opened in 1973, is now undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation to refurbish the main building, which includes 100 guestrooms. The work also includes redesigning all 30 of the Lodge’s cabins. Earlier this year, work was completed on renovation of the guestrooms, including new paint, windows and the addition of 42″ flat-screen TVs. The latest phase of the renovation will add improvements and enhancements to the lobby, guest registration area, all public spaces, the restaurant, and meeting facilities.
Similar work is taking place at Amicalola Fall Lodge, near Dawsonville. The Maple Restaurant is getting a new outdoor dining area. There will also be new meeting rooms and event space. In addition, all of the public restrooms will be upgraded. Meanwhile, during the renovations, both lodges remain open.
