(Sautee)- On the weather scene, WRWH’s Weather Reporter Bill Kinsland shared with us information about the Great Heat Wave of 2012. 

According to information from the National Weather Service  In 2012, a strong upper-level ridge allowed for a historic heatwave to impact north and central Georgia June 29th and 30th. On the 30th, Atlanta reached 106°F, which broke the old all-time maximum temperature record of 105°F while Macon and Columbus tied their all-time record highs of 108°F and 106°F, respectively. ” 

According to Bill here in White County, all three official weather stations broke all previous daily and all-time records for high temperatures that weekend! 

Here at WRWH we recorded 101 degrees on June 30th, 102 on July 1st and again on July 2nd.

According to Bill in Helen, the Police Department reported 102 degrees on June 30th and again on July 1st…and 101 degrees on July 2nd.

At the Sautee Weather Station, Bill logged a 94-degree temperature on June 30th, 97 degrees on July 1st, and 100 degrees on July 2nd.
