Reid Joseph Kendall, age 80, of Dahlonega, Georgia passed away on November 25, 2021, following an extended illness.

Mr. Kendall was born in Kokomo, Indiana on December 8, 1940. His family moved to Dahlonega in 1955. Following his graduation from Lumpkin County High School in 1959 he went on to graduate from the University of North Georgia and the American Institute of Banking.

In 1967 he was drafted into the United States Army where he served until his honorable discharge in September of 1972.

Mr. Kendall’s banking career began at First National Bank in Atlanta where he worked for eleven years. He then joined the staff at Bank of Dahlonega as Assistant Cashier and Operations Officer. He was instrumental in the planning and opening of Lumpkin County Bank in the 1980’s where he served as Executive Vice President and was a member of the Board of Directors. He retired from banking in 1991 to pursue a career in real estate appraisal. As the owner of Kendall Appraisal Service he retired in 2016 due to health reasons. During his career he also owned a trucking company and an accounting and tax service.

Mr. Kendall was a kind person with a great sense of humor and always greeted folks with a smile. He had a love for old cars and could tell you the make and model of most any car he saw. He was a faithful member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and was a faithful supporter of Southern Gospel music. 

The son of the late Reid F. Kendall and Maggie Berry Kendall, he was also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Gene (Ruby) Kendall, Kokomo Indiana, and Edward (Beverly) Kendall, Dahlonega, Georgia; sisters and brothers-in-law,  Edna (Lawrence) Jones, Lebanon, Indiana, and Edith (Dean) Wisehart, Douglasville, Georgia; sister, Loice Kendall, Clermont, Georgia; and brother-in-law, Loyd Jones, Demorest, Georgia.

Survivors include his loving wife of 29 years, June Kendall; sister, Norma Jones, Demorest, Georgia; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Brenda Branson, Dahlonega, Georgia. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, November 29, 2021, and on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Baker and Rev. Lyman Caldwell officiating. Interment will follow in the Dahlonega Memorial Park Cemetery.
