Weather Alert2-16-16

(Peachtree City)- The National Weather Service says rain may mix with snow overnight across the highest elevations of northeast Georgia. Forecasters say a low pressure system will move across the deep south today and tonight.

The low will be accompanied by widespread showers.  As the system moves off the southeast coast… cold air will begin to dive south across the region and snow may begin to mix with the rain across the highest elevations, above 2,000 feet.

Snowfall accumulations are not expected.

Temperatures are expected to fall to near freezing across portions of northeast Georgia.  Any lingering moisture on the roadway could turn into patchy black ice.

Again most of this should occur in areas above 2,000 feet.
