(Cleveland)- The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in White County has increased to 1,146 as of Wednesday afternoon. That is an increase of 114 for the past two weeks the number of new cases has double for the two-week period.  The department of health reported 26 deaths related to the virus.

Meanwhile, the weekly COVID-19 update from White County Schools has 14 students reported positive with 233 students quarantined.  Six staff reported positive with 11 staff quarantined.

School officials recognized that the school system has experienced an increase in the number of COVID-19 positive cases and related quarantines bases on direct contact during the past week.  However, they say the overall percentage of positive cases at each grade band remains less than 1 percent.

By following the Department of Public Health guidelines, we have and will continue to make data-based decisions on quarantine and targeted closures for specific populations and grade-bands.
