Phineas “Snap” Sutton Jr., age 83 of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2021.

Mr. Sutton was born February 6, 1938, in White County to the late Finis and Maggie Tate Sutton. Snap was a member of St. John’s Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Juan Maurice Sutton Bretton.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Sutton, Cleveland; children, Shirley Annette Clark, Knoxville, TN; Christine Khan, Fort Lauderdale, FL; Alma Flowers Wright (Patrick), Buford; Angie Martin (Austin), Cleveland; Kiersten J. Bretton Billmire (Mike), Rochester, MN; siblings, Lounell Sutton; Willie Sutton (Dot), Bud Sutton, Ernest Sutton (Mary), Paul Sutton, all of Cleveland; grandchildren, Perez Hill, Lil Dee Clark, Raesean M. Sutton, Juan M. Sutton, Julian J. Bretton, Jared Khan-Bagley, Vivica J. Bretton, Angel Wright, Destiny Wright, Nadia J. Bretton, 5 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. 

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, February 26, 2021, at The Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Billy Joe Jenkins Jr. and the Rev. Bryan Sutton will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Yonah Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends from 12-2 PM Friday at the funeral home.
