DAHLONEGA | Fueled by 13 first half three-point baskets, Pfeiffer raced away from the University of North Georgia men’s basketball team, 109-87, in both teams’ season-opener on Saturday evening in UNG’s Memorial Hall. The game was the final game of four contests as part of the Peach Belt / Conference Carolinas Conference Challenge presented by Steak-n-Shake.

The Falcons made good on 11 of their first 13 attempts from behind the three-point line and held a 56-37 lead at intermission after leading by as many as 20.

Tyler Dominy led the Nighthawks with a team-best 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the floor. Ebo Smith added 15 points with five three-pointers while Tyre Gathright and Juan Rivas added 13 and 12 respectively.

Rivas completed the double-double with a game-high 10 rebounds.

NOTES
– Pfeiffer’s AJ Clark led all scorers with 29 points while Andrew Guerrero added 26. Mike Smith added 19 points and the trio combined to make 15 three-pointers.

– The Falcons made good on 37-of-59 (63%) from the field compared to just 45% (28-of-62) for North Georgia.
