(VALDOSTA, Ga.) – The No. 7 University of North Georgia men’s golf team sits in a tie for 15th place after the opening day of the NCAA Division II South/Southeast Regional Thursday.

North Georgia shot 3-over for the day and sits just nine shots outside of the top five. West Georgia and Delta State currently lead the tournament at 12-under, one shot ahead of Barry. Limestone is at 7-under in fourth place, while Columbus State and Barton are tied for fifth at 6-under.

Individually, Evan Thompson was the low Nighthawk at 2-under 70, carding five birdies on the day. He finds himself in a tie for 19th place and is currently just one shot outside of the top 10.

North Georgia will tee it up in the second round Friday morning at 9:10 a.m.
