DAHLONEGA | In a battle of top-20 programs, the No. 19 University of North Georgia rifle team posted a 22-point victory over No. 20 UT-Martin on Monday afternoon at UNG’s COL. Raymond C. Hamilton Rifle Range. The Nighthawks shot a 2242 smallbore score and a 2299 air rifle mark for a combined score of 4541.

UT-M’s Joe Martin shot the top aggregate score of 1146 (569 smallbore, 577 air rifle) out of 26 shooters. UNG’s Andrew Abernathy (1139) and Dakota Spivey (1138) finished second and third overall.

For UNG, Abernathy’s 567 smallbore score set a new personal best, while Matt Settele (577, air rifle) and Maggie Mason(579, air rifle) add new personal bests of their own.

Abernathy (2nd) was joined by Spivey (567, 3rd) and Kyle Bailey (561, 4th) as the trio earned top-five finishes in smallbore.

In the air rifle portion, Mason (2nd) and Settele (4th) each recorded a top-five spot.

North Georgia returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 24 when the team travels to Lexington, Ky. to take on Kentucky.
