(Cleveland)- White County has several new Emergency Medical Responders.  Firefighters from White County graduated Thursday night, as the county’s newest Emergency Medical Responders.

White County Public Safety Director David Murphy in an email announcing the new gradates said, EMR’s provide immediate lifesaving care to critical patients who access the emergency medical services system. “These new graduates have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide immediate lifesaving interventions while awaiting additional EMS resources to arrive. EMRs also provide assistance to higher-level personnel at the scene of emergencies and during transport. Emergency Medical Responders are a vital part of the comprehensive EMS response system,” said Murphy.

According to Murphy, all personnel passed the final written and practical exams with an average grade point of 87.

Those attending and certifying as EMR’s are:  Austin Barnett, Full Time Firefighter  Station 2, Jackson Cantrell, Full Time Firefighter Station 2, Linda Crossman, Volunteer Firefighter Station 3, Jordan LeFevre, Part-time Firefighter, Mason Long, Volunteer Firefighter Station 5, Cole Sheriff, Volunteer Firefighter Station 4, Alex Staton, Volunteer Firefighter Station 7  and Steven Seabolt, Volunteer Firefighter Station 2.

“It certainly is beneficial for our training team to consist of a Firefighter/Paramedics and seasoned personnel that bring this training to a level that is just shy of a basic Emergency Medical Technician,” stated White County Fire Chief Seth Weaver.

“We are proud of our team, and these individuals for achieving this valuable certification for our community and those we serve.”

Lanier Swafford, Training Officer/Firefighter/Paramedic, Shad Sosebee, Firefighter/Paramedic, and Capt. Josh Taylor Firefighter/EMTB were the instructors for this course.
