Nelson “T.I.” Lee Mason, age 83, of Cornelia, Georgia passed away on February 16, 2021 following an extended illness.
Mr. Mason was born on March 12, 1937 in Banks County, Georgia to the late John and Corrie Beck Mason. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his seven siblings. He was a member of Homer Presbyterian Church. Mr. Mason was a well beloved school bus driver for the Banks County School System for 15 years. He was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Vietnam Era. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan, spending much time listening and watching them. Mr. Mason enjoyed time fishing and he was also an excellent wood worker. T.I. was known to his grandchildren as “Pops” and “Papa”. He never met a stranger, always having a story to tell.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Sylvia Wilbanks Mason, of Baldwin; daughter, Trini Higgins, of Cornelia; daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Tim Moore, of Cornelia; daughter, Wendi Henslee, of Demorest; grandchildren, Ashlee and Alexson Sisavath; Justin Ansley; Mason Higgins; Brandon Henslee; and Carson Henslee; and great-grandchildren, Ariel, Aaliyah, Niya; and sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Parks Hood, of Sautee.
A Visitation Service will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel.
