Mrs. Marvene Grizzle, age 79, of Dahlonega, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2023.

Mrs. Grizzle was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. She was born on April 2, 1943, to the late Major and Floye Rider Moss. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, RC Grizzle, sisters Edna Odom, Pauline Rider, Leona Rider, Viola Sheffield, Bonnie Lou Edwards, Edith Mincey, Adell Bruce, and Cleo Moss.

Marvene was a huge part of the Nimblewill community, where she loved to care for and visit her neighbors and friends. She was a lifelong member of Hightower Baptist Church. Marvene loved canning and cooking and told you she loved you, mostly by giving you her homemade canned goods. You might find her riding her lawnmower or even cutting your grass if you were fortunate enough to be her neighbor. Marvene was a beloved wife to RC, whom she loved so much, an endeared mother to her children, and “Nanna Bene Bene” to her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

Missing her most will be her children Sharon and Mike Johnson, Jody, and Denise Grizzle, all of Dahlonega; brother and sister-in-law Leon and Doris Moss; sister and brother-in-law Josie and Ervin Barrett; grandchildren John and Amanda Hodge, Britny and Matt Lynch, Brandon Johnson, Anthony and Carie Johnson, Jessica and Jason Humphries, Kindra, and Micheal Heldreth; great-grandchildren Kailyn, Jaxon, Xaden, Cierra, Mia, Lila, Kinsley, Zachary, Logan, Easton, Bella, Adaline; special friends Justin Tolbert, Chance Fields, Nina Moss, and Vickie Burns; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services are scheduled for 4:00 PM Friday, February 3, 2023, at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Kris Butler and the Rev. Steve Barrett will officiate. Interment will follow in Nimblewill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to the service hour Friday at the funeral home.
