Mrs. Kathleen Wimpy, age 84, of Dahlonega passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2020.
Mrs. Wimpy was born in White County on November 2, 1935 to the late Robert and Cora Grindle Welch. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her grandson Brandon Dale and her sister Dorothy Gilreath. Mrs. Wimpy was affectionately called “Granny Kat” by her grandchildren. She was a loving mother with a strong will and knew hard work. Mrs. Wimpy loved to shop thrift stores. She was a member of Philippi Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children and spouses Kathy and Danny Miller, Braselton, Doris and Allen Conner, Clermont, Lynn Dale, Dahlonega, Clint and Ann Wimpy, Dahlonega, and Mike Wimpy Murrayville; grandchildren Blake Miller, Shaun Miller (Crystal), Mathew Conner (Misty), Katie Conner, Joni Ellis, Joshua Wimpy, and Erica Wimpy; great-grandchildren Cohen Miller, Cora Miller, Madison Conner, Michelle Conner, Delilah Conner, Morgan Ellis, McKenzie Ellis, Peyton McDaniel, Presley McDaniel, and Piper McDaniel; and niece Michelle Gilreath.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Sunday, September 20, 2020 at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Lyman Caldwell and Mr. Allen Wimpy will officiate. Interment will follow in Philippi Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
